After what seemed like forever, I got to see Owen Benjamin live!

I've previously mentioned that Owen is made of awesome, but when I wrote that post about him a couple of months ago, I was still pretty new to his comedy. Since then, I've come to fully appreciate what a rare gem of a guy he really is.

Funny? Check.
Entertaining? Check.
Intelligent? Check.
Willing to speak his mind? Check.

These are the things comedians used to be made of. Way back before everyone was "offended" by everything, and before people had to "call you out" over a simple comment. Back when people used to understand what a joke really is, there were comedians like Owen Benjamin. For true comedy buffs, he is the real deal. His podcast, 'Why Didn't They Laugh' proves this as he deconstructs his own shows and talks about what did and didn't work with certain crowds, and how he won them back over - which he always manages to do with his quick wit and sharp mind.

So, needless to say, I was pretty excited to head to Birmingham to see the Big Bear.

I was in no way disappointed.

Before Owen performed, we were treated to thirty (ish) minutes of Feraz Ozel, a comedian from Los Angeles who instantly made the crowd laugh with his observations about "Birmingstan" and some extremely valid points about the benefits of bacon. Rumour has it, Feraz is hoping to come back to the UK next year, and I highly recommend seeing him if you get the chance.

Then, after a short break, came the moment I'd been waiting for. Owen Benjamin stepped out to a somewhat tame crowd (side note: at the end of the show, the lovely young lady who was selling Owen's merchandise said, "Oh, you were sitting to the side of the stage, weren't you?" I nodded and she said, "We heard you laughing." My friend Autumn and I were not afraid to let our hair down and make some noise!). What followed was over an hour of non-stop laughter. Amongst the highlights were Owen's English accent - you haven't lived until you've heard an American say the word "willy" in a British accent. :p His perfect pronunciation of David "Attenbruh" had the crowd howling, as did his references to Jimmy Saville. One of the funniest moments for me came when Owen was discussing Chris Martin of Coldplay which ended in a bit about Winnie The Pooh - I sincerely hope that catches on because it was brilliant! Also, whacking off to Gandhi deserves an honourable mention!

A big part of Owen's life and his comedy is his trusty piano - and, man, does he have some great songs.Advice Song for Millenials and Summer of 1869. Owen's response to John Lennon's Imagine live for the first time which had me laughing hard, and he ended the show with Feel My Heat - and finally got the crowd singing. I guess it takes us Brits about 75 minutes to warm up. ;)

When the show was over, I was lucky enough to be one of the first to see Owen and grab some hugs! It was SO great to speak to him (and I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything dumb lol). I didn't mean to lurk at the venue for quite so long but I was so busy chatting that I didn't get a selfie right away, so I went hat shopping and chatted with Feraz and the awesome people who had been selling merch and taking photos throughout the show.

Owen Benjamin is truly one of the kindest people you could wish to meet. He has time for everyone. He truly wants to talk to his fansand hear their thoughts and ideas, and that is just another part of why he continues to be so successful.

I hope Owen finds his way back to the UK again soon because I am so ready to do it all over again! There are still a few dates left on this tour, so if you haven't been yet, GO! Get the tickets. Feed the bear!

The Rules:

Several years ago, I created the Bloghop of Joy with Clare Dugmore. The idea behind it was for people to sign up and tell each other about the small things in their lives that always make them smile. Miles of Smiles will run along those exact same lines BUT we’re doing this all over social media. That means you can use your blog, your Facebook, your Twitter or your Instagram to share your joys.

The reason we’re opening it up is to spread this as far and wide as possible.
Things on your list of joy could be a random memory, something you see on TV, overhearing something that makes you laugh out loud - just that one thing that makes the clouds part, and the sunshine appear again.

We all know that our friends and families makes us happy – that is pretty much a given. We're not talking about life-changing moments, just the little things that inexplicably make us smile and forget our worries for a while. We would love it if you would join us on our #MilesofSmiles mission!

My List of Joy

So, I already did this hop on my writing blog, but I'm joining in over here because there are some entertainment specific things that make me happy!

Podcasts

I rarely have time to listen to podcasts BUT there are some that I just have to make time for. Specifically, Why Didn't They Laugh by the awesome Owen Benjamin (will talk about him more at some point!), and Tell 'Em Steve Dave (this is not for the faint-hearted. These guys are hilarious, but not necessarily family friendly!)

Ed Sheeran

I have a confession. I didn't like Ed Sheeran much at first. I didn't really get what the big deal was, but now? Now I cannot get enough of his music.

British Comedy

I love comedy of all kinds, but - and I may be biased - British comedy is amazing. Quite recently we had a TV show on here called The Keith and Paddy Picture Show, where to of Britain's finest comedians/actors/presenters "remade" classic movies. Their version of Dirty Dancing was infinitely better than the genuine remake that happened recently!

So, tell me, what are the little things that make you smile?

So... last night Ariana Grande returned to Manchester after the horrific attack at her show on May 22nd, and she brought with her a whole host of amazing artists, who call came together to help raise money for those who were affected by the attack.

Honestly, I wasn't absolutely sure what to expect. What I always knew for sure about Ariana Grande was that she has an amazing voice - other than that, I didn't know a whole lot. So, to witness this beautiful young lady on stage, doing what she does best while fighting back her emotions, was just phenomenal. She's a petite little thing, but she commanded that stage and that audience with ease - and she made a fan out of me the moment she sang with the Parrs Wood High School choir and held onto the sweet young lady who sang My Everything as she broke down. Also, One Last Time was a moving moment as that was reportedly the last song played at Grande's concert on May 22nd. And can we just talk about Ariana's stunning rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow? It could not have been a more perfect song to end on.

Other amazing moments during the concert included the always awesome Robbie Williams trying to hold it together in the city that means so much to him. My inner teenager could not handle seeing him so upset, and his chants of "Manchester we're strong" were truly moving, as was him singing Angels.

The Black Eyed Peas singing Where Is The Love with Ariana was where I lost it. That song has been in my head since the first attack on London earlier this year, and to see it performed at this event was amazing. Also, will.i.am is the shiz.

Coldplay took to the stage to sing what has become Manchester's anthem - Don't Look Back In Anger. Not everyone was crazy about them covering the Oasis classic, but it felt important that that song had a place at the concert. The crowd seemed to love it, and then Coldplay went into a few of their own songs. Love them or hate them, they know how to put on a show, as the audience was showered in coloured stars which rained down from the sky.

One of the bigger moments of the night came from Liam Gallagher's appearance on the stage - dressed in orange and looking pretty much as he did back in the nineties. Read into that what you will :p but it was great that he was a part of the night.

All in all, it was an incredible show to witness. There were tears and smiles, and a feeling of oneness, firstly with my fellow Brits who were all talking about the concert, talking about the parts they enjoyed and the parts that made them cry - not one of them forgetting why this concert was happening. But also with the rest of the world who watched as some of the world's best known performers united for this event.

And since this particular anthology has a very strong link with music, I'm okay with talking about it here.

Where Words Fail, Music Speaks is a collection of short stories and poetry by writers from all walks of life.

Each story and poem is based on the titles of 90s Britpop songs, including Come Back To What You Know, Bittersweet Symphony, Animal Nitrate, Disco 2000, and more.

Our list of authors is: Kyra Lennon, Clare Dugmore, Annalisa Crawford, Ker Dukey, Wesley Copeland, Robb Turburville, D H Sidebottom, Audrina Lane, M.B. Feeney, Karen Frances, S.J Warner, Scout Dawson, Kimberly Morgan, Maddie Wade, Rebeccalou Heronpontin, and Andrea Coventry.

All proceeds from the sales of this anthology will go to Clusterbusters.

Those of you who follow me on social media will know what this is all about, but for those who don't - I have several friends who live with the debilitating pain of cluster headaches. While research is being done all the time into a better way for people to manage the pain, there is still a long way to go yet, and I wanted to do something to help. Raising money is key to continuing research, so I pulled in a team of some of the coolest writers I know to put this amazing book together.

There is something for everyone inside. There's heartbreak, there's hope, there's pain, there's joy, there's growing up, and for good measure, a little bit of bizarre! You can't fail to find something inside this book you will love!

I had always heard of Bush - of course, I grew up in the nineties - but back then, I was all about the cheesy music. While I was singing along to the Backstreet Boys and learning Steps' latest dance routine, I didn't realise what I was missing out on.

Fast forward to the present. Well, last December, to be more specific. I'm working on a project that involves me looking deeper into the nineties music scene, and I stumbled across a few tracks by Bush. I started listening. I loved their music.

Fast forward again to an average Saturday night watching TV - when I heard Mad Love for the first time. That was enough to sell Black and White Rainbows to me. Since then I have been listening to the album from the time I get up until the time I go to bed. When I have to stop listening to do other things, I have one of the songs from the album in my head. Just in case you were curious, today, I wandered around the supermarket singing Sky Turns Day Glo to myself. :p

This is not going to be your average music review - that's not really what I do. I can't talk to you about what is technically brilliant, or speak with any great authority about how this album compares to previous albums, because my knowledge is not strong enough.

But what I can tell you is this. I haven't been gripped by an album this way in years. In fact, I don't think I have been this gripped by an album ever. And I listen to a LOT of music.

I wish I could explain what the hell it is about this album that makes me want to get shit done... but maybe that's a mark of how damn good it is. It's rendered me incapable of finding the right words. All I can tell you is that it's crawled under my skin and awoken something inside me that has been sleeping for WAY too long.

If there is only one album you check out this year - for the love of God - let it be Black and White Rainbows.

Well, yesterday, mine informed me that it was a year since I finished watching Making a Murderer. One. Whole. Year.

Making A Murderer, in numerous ways, changed my life. Changed me. My recollection of watching it for the first time is that I was totally gripped by every single episode. Not in a "well this is entertaining, I need more" kind of way, but in a "what in the hell is wrong with the world?" kind of way. It felt dark, to me. Chilling that a man such as Steven Avery could be jailed for a crime he didn't commit, and then, just when he thought the nightmare was over, it all started again, and his sixteen-year-old nephew was dragged along for the ride. It broke me. It kept me awake, wondering how the system could have failed these people. How people in positions of power could manipulate the public with such skill that, even now, many still don't see past those awful press conferences.

Like everyone else, I wasn't there when Teresa Halbach lost her life. I can't say with 100% certainty who killed that young lady who had so much life left in her. But I do know this. There are a lot of people who had a deep desire to see Avery behind bars - that is clear from the documentary. Remember the way some of those people spoke about him? The way the investigation focused mainly on Avery and his family right from the start? It was and still is troubling to me that this kind of thing happens, and the last year has highlighted just how many more Steven Averys and Brendan Dasseys there are all over the world.

Making a Murderer inspired many people to get out there and make a change. Protests were arranged, various fundraisers were set up, petitions were launched, research was done. Even those who didn't think their voices were that loud were ready to stand up and say SOMETHING. Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos set the wheels in motion for the world to stand up and make some noise. The enormity of their achievements is almost impossible to put into words.

While the fight is still ongoing for Avery and Dassey, the tables are turning, make no mistake. Those men will get back to their families because of the hard work of legends like Laura Nirider and Steven Drizin. Kathleen Zellner has frequently tweeted about progress being made in Steven's case. Justice will be done.

On a personal level, what's changed for me since this time last year? So. Many. Things. In March last year, I wrote this. It was kinda like this post, noting the things people have done since MaM first aired. But you know what's really cool? During this fight to correct the injustice, the friendships I mentioned have grown. Now, the people I used to discuss the case with talk on Skype about... everything. They're people I turn to when my days are rough. They are the people I go to when I have good news to share, and vice versa. And it never fails to fascinate me that some of my favourite people were found because we watched the same documentary.

It never fails to fascinate me that one year later, there is still an army of Making a Murderer fans who see the big picture, and are still standing up for something they believe in so passionately. At a time when so many people think only of themselves, it's constantly inspiring and exciting to know that there are some incredible people out there.

Keep fighting the good fight, my friends.

Kyra Lennonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3789225946771546240.post-47873667727848400172016-07-18T12:13:00.001+01:002016-07-18T12:34:23.578+01:00Love In The First Degree Anthology - Raising Money for The Innocence ProjectIt's been a while since I posted and that's mostly because I have been working on this project I want to share with you today!

Those of you who have read this blog before, know I've talked about Making a Murderer a lot. That documentary has literally changed people's lives, and brought people together. If you watched it too, you'll also know that the situation Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey found themselves in left many feeling upset and frustrated, searching for things they could do to help.

Well. I'm not a lawyer, I'm not rich, I'm not the best super sleuth. What I am is a writer. And so, one of the things I knew I could do is help raise money for The Innocence Project. I think the Innocence Project is a hugely important organisation, and not only did I want to help them raise money, I also wanted to raise awareness of what they do.

Before I share the details of the book with you, I just want to extend a thank you to some amazing people. Firstly, my co-authors, Clare, Kirsty-Anne, Allana, and Laura. You have been fabulous!

I also want to thank my MaM besties, Paula Grabow, Gemma Cosgrove, and Rich Donovan (plus all of you others - you know who you are!). You three have provided me with laughs, inspiration and joy, and I can't imagine a life without you in it!

To Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos - thank you for bringing not only the Averys' story to our attention, but shining a light on the flaws in the criminal justice system. What you have done is nothing short of incredible.

And to Jerry Buting and Dean Strang - thank you for showing that there are still people of integrity in the world. It's easy to forget sometimes. You guys haven't had the easiest time of it - but please know that you did a great job back then, and you're still doing a great job now!

And on that note... I bring you the project!

Together with some of the UK's best indie authors, I created Love In The First Degree. Here are all the details you will need:
This anthology includes stories by Laura Morgan, Allana Walker, Clare Dugmore, Kyra Lennon and <span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 16px;">Kirsty-Anne Still.

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt;">Each story speaks of crime, passion, determination, and most importantly, intense romance that will leave you thinking about the characters long after you have finished turning the pages.

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt;">Being wrongfully accused of a crime could happen to anyone, anywhere, and The Innocence Project works hard to overturn wrongful convictions and help innocent people get back to their real lives where they rightfully belong. All proceeds from sales of Love In The First Degree will be donated to The Innocence Project.

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt;">Erin Reynolds has been on the West Midlands Police force for seven years. She’s seen some strange things in the line of duty, but nothing quite like this.

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt;">Synopsis: I love him. He loves me. Our love story was that easy. I stuck by that, making sure he knew I was his person, his rock when he was arrested for murder. A murder that I knew he didn’t commit. But here I am, breaking his heart, unravelling our love story. All to save him. I’d break his heart – and mine – a thousand times over if it clears his name. *** I wasn’t raised to be a good man. I was loved to be one. She was the one constant when my world started falling apart. Until she wasn’t. I was no longer the man I had become. I was a murderer, a criminal, a broken man. She started to see me as the murderer I was branded, but mark my words, this doesn’t end here. When I’m a free man I’ll tear this world apart to get her back.

Some of you may recognise the name Tom Kertscher from the wildly popular Netflix documentary Making a Murderer. At the time of Steven Avery's trial, Kertscher covered the events as they unfolded. These days, he's still reporting, and most recently, Kertscher did an interview of sorts with three other journalists who also covered the trial: Colleen Henry, Aaron Keller and Dan O'Donnell. Henry and Keller answered their questions very diplomatically. Dan O'Donnell... not so much.

The question was asked: Do you think Avery was guilty?

There is not a person in the world who knows whether Steven Avery is absolutely guilty aside from Avery himself - and the person or persons who may have really killed Teresa Halbach. For O'Donnell to outright say, "Absolutely" in answer to that question is - to my mind - further proof that the media in Wisconsin was and still is biased against the Averys.

I truly don't blame the people of Wisconsin for believing Steven Avery was guilty at the time of the trial. They were told over and over about the "proof" of his guilt and when so much was obviously against him, of course people believed it. But surely, with the magic of hindsight, should there not have been a slight shift of attitude and opinion by now?

The other thing that troubled me was the extreme arrogance of O'Donnell's last answer. (Seriously, read the link above, it'll blow your mind!) But more worrying than the assumption that the people who watched Making a Murderer didn't do their own research to form their opinions was that he said MaM doesn't really expose flaws in the justice system.

Well, excuse me, but:

You only have to take a look around to see that the flaws in the criminal justice system are being pointed out all over the place and because of Making a Murderer, people are listening.

The thing that makes me saddest about Kertscher's interview is that it keeps the focus on the wrong thing. The documentary has been in the world since last December. Yes, Steven Avery MIGHT be guilty. Or he might not. Right now, it's Kathleen Zellner's job to worry about Avery. At this point, people have reached their verdicts and continuing to only ask whether Avery is guilty does a huge disservice to Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi's work. (Not in any way saying his guilt or innocence isn't important, it is, but the only people who can help him are already working on it. I'm just saying Steven Avery is not what MaM was all about). Just because Making a Murderer was centred around this one case does not mean it doesn't expose wider issues with the criminal justice system. People are interested now. They are learning now. They are trying to find a way to help now. If that isn't proof that Making a Murderer has made a difference, I don't know what is.

Kyra Lennonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3789225946771546240.post-56692981530756778472016-04-05T08:22:00.000+01:002016-04-05T08:22:30.640+01:00Ken Kratz Jumps On The Speaking Event BandwagonSo, it's been a while since we last heard from our favourite sweat-obsessed former DA, Ken Kratz, but he's back to let the world know he's hosting a speaking event in Rockford, Illinois with Judge Jeanine Pirro.

Kratz says this event will show "never before seen evidence, omitted from the documentary, that will provide the audience an exclusive insight and new perspective into this criminal justice debate."

Now, before we get started on this, let's just clear something up. Those who think Steven Avery is guilty and other outspoken cynics might (and probably will) say, "Well, if Strang and Buting are doing a tour, why shouldn't Ken Kratz have a chance to say what he thinks too?" And that is a perfectly valid point. However loathed by much of the public, Kratz is well within his rights to speak out. However, Strang and Buting's tour is not called, "These Are The Reasons Steven Avery Is Innocent," it's called, "A Conversation on Justice." Of course Making a Murderer will be discussed, but that is not the sole purpose. Steven Avery is one man. There are a lot more Steven Averys in the world and they all need help.

Secondly, this: A significant portion of their speakers proceeds will be donated to local and national equal justice charities.

This is not a publicity seeking exercise for Strang and Buting. There is a bigger picture here.

So, what's the name of Ken Kratz's event? "Avery: Guilty As Charged."

You'd think that since Kratz was one of the people who "proved" (I use the term loosely - I'm sure you all know what I mean) Avery's guilt back in the day, there would be no need for him to re-prove it now. If he truly believed he had done his job right the first time, why the need to re-hash it all?

But most of all, what can he bring to the table in this discussion that is truly new? Everything that was not included in the documentary has been brought up in the media, and those who truly care about the case have read the trial transcripts from start to finish. What could he possibly reveal at this point that the world doesn't already know?

This feels like nothing more than an attempt to claw back a little of his former reputation by attempting to explain himself again. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed judging by the outrage expressed on Twitter as soon as the news broke. General opinion is that he's said more than enough already for free - so why pay to hear it all over again?

Scratch that. For a long time I've been saddened by some of the things I've seen online.

There's a mob mentality that can come with things that reach popular culture status. As an example, let's talk about say... boybands. Back in the day, a million years ago when I was a kid, I loved Take That. They were HUGE. In a very Beatlemania way, teenage girls screamed and cried when they saw them, they put their posters up, they discussed which member they liked the best with their friends. When a member of that band got a girlfriend and it made the news, people just had to deal. Not saying there wasn't a degree of, "Hey, Robbie Williams is dating another pop star, we hate her now." It happened. But that was it. Because there was no Facebook or Twitter for people to spew their outrage into the world.

These days, One Direction (for example) haven't had the same level of privacy. One of them gets a girlfriend, and all of sudden that girl is getting messages of hate, and teenage girls are yelling their frustration into the Twittersphere because... they can. And when one person sees another person with the same thought, they retweet each other. And then someone else who agrees sees it. Another retweet. And then another, and another until people start thinking, "Well, if this many people agree with me, a) I must be right and b) it's okay for me to verbally attack a person I don't know just because I have a platform to do so."

Most recently, Liam Payne of 1D (allegedly) began dating Cheryl Cole. The abuse she received about this is mindblowing.

Now, let's swing this around to my new favourite subject: Making a Murderer.

I have said before that it's important to remember that the people in the documentary are REAL people. This is not a fictional story. They are real the same way One Direction and Cheryl Cole are real. Yet somehow, just because they are in the public eye, suddenly they are fair game to be attacked by anyone with a social media account.

We all have our on theories and opinions, and it's absolutely okay to talk about them and discuss them. But what I'm finding more and more frustrating is the amount of certainty people are throwing their theories around with.

Let's look at some instances of things that came up since the documentary that relate to Steven Avery. Those who think he killed Teresa Halbach became obsessed with the evidence not presented in Making a Murderer. They said the fact Steven Avery used *67 when he called Halbach meant he was trying to hide his identity (how that would even work is beyond me. If she answered the phone, what was he going to say? If he wanted her at his house, he'd have to tell her where she was going, and since she'd been there before...). They said that the documentary hid the fact that Avery once opened the door to Halbach only wearing a towel so that must mean something horribly sinister. And then the infamous thing about "sweat DNA" which meant the documentary purposely tried to hide this thing that isn't even a thing.

If you look at any evidence, you can twist it any way you want to make someone LOOK guilty. "Steven Avery gave a false name to lure Halbach to his property."
"Steven Avery had leg irons and handcuffs in his room so he must have planned to do this all along."
"Someone said Avery planned to make a torture chamber so he could torture women."
These are just a few examples of things that could make him appear guilty if nobody bothers to question them properly.

What was Making a Murderer about? Wasn't part of it about the unfairness? About how the police leapt to conclusions the second Steven Avery's name was linked with Teresa Halbach, and the damage this has done to two men?

So... knowing how enraged people are about this, why are so many piecing together information they've found and saying, "THIS PERSON DID IT! I CAN PROVE IT!" Well, if you actually can prove it, great. But unless you have 100% solid evidence that puts that person in the frame, you don't have proof; you have an opinion.

I could give a list of names of people who could be suspects, but they can't all have done it. That means that 99% of that list, and maybe even 100%, would be innocent. People's reputations are being dented on maybes and what ifs.

The presumption of innocence is what Steven Avery never had. That's one of the reasons people were so upset by his story. So why are people treating others the same way Avery was treated?

And now you're thinking... what does Making a Murderer have to do with all that crap about Take That and One Direction? Well, it's this. When people club together to throw insults and attacks at a celebrity, it can lead to a massive snowball of hate which gathers more and more momentum until people notice, and until people start to believe. The same thing is happening with MaM. One person says, "I have found a piece of evidence that says (insert name) killed Teresa Halbach." And another person sees it and says, "You know... I thought that too." Retweet. "Oh my God, them too?! Wow, maybe there's something in this." Maybe a quick internet search to dig up some other "evidence" to back it up. Retweet. "Whoa... this is looking like it can't be a coincidence now." Retweet. And so on and so forth. Before you know it, someone who may be perfectly innocent is being pointed out as a murderer, and when they're harmlessly wandering down the street, people are shouting things at them accusing them. Damaging a reputation that shouldn't be damaged.

If people throw stones, others get hurt. Except accusing someone of murder is less of a stone and more of a gigantic rock. So before you pick up your next rock, ready to hurl it at some unsuspecting victim, you'd best be sure you're throwing it at the right person, and that you have more than hearsay to back it up.
So, let's jump right in and look at the weirdest Making a Murderer merchandise currently on offer!

1. Making a Murderer Dreamboat Collection

Now, even the name of this product is worthy of a giggle, but when you look closer at what this is... well... this is a pair of Dean and Jerry earrings. One lawyer for each ear. There is a LOT of Strang and Buting merch out there, but this is one of the oddest things I've seen because I'm just not sure how you would explain to people who have never seen MaM why you have the faces of two different men hanging off your earlobes. On the other hand, they would be quite the conversation starter...

2. Kratzy University t-shirt

Never before have two words become more linked than Kratz and sweat. A variety of memes have depicted this, but this t-shirt kicks things up another notch because declaring oneself as a "sweaty prize" is bizarre to say the least! Also, the idea of a Kratz university... what would one learn there? I'm gonna resist the urge to take a cheap shot - but feel free to fill in the blanks! ;)

3. Steven Avery embroidery

Okay... someone has gone to the effort of making this Steven Avery embroidery, and anyone who is brave enough to put their work out into the world should be applauded. However, it is still pretty freakin' odd to hang a 5inch Steven Avery on your wall . That said, it's still a million times better than Eugene Kusche's sketch!
Adult colouring books are quite the big deal these days. According to many, getting your felt tips out and colouring in some pretty patterns is a relaxing pastime, guaranteed to lower stress. But you know what doesn't lower stress? MAKING A MURDERER! Injustice. The reminder that while you're sitting there idly colouring, the man in the picture is still in jail. This isn't as much weird as it is outright ridiculous, but... whatever floats your boat!
Aaand we're back to things to hang on the wall - let's take a look at this little humdinger! This, right here, is a picture of one of the most infuriating pieces of "evidence" in the entire documentary. That damn key has been the topic of more discussions than a Kim Kardashian nude selfie, so having a reminder of it every time you look up from reading the trial transcripts...? Yeah...thanks, but no thanks.
1. You wake up in the morning, and the first thing you do is Google Steven Avery, Making a Murderer, and/or Brendan Dassey before you do anything else.
2. You get irritated when people who think Steven Avery is guilty tell you to “read the trial transcripts.” But you’ve read them. And you still think the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department is (or was at the time) full of liars.

3. You also get irritated when people smugly tell you that by focusing on certain aspects of the case, you’re missing the point of the documentary, when actually, you’re perfectly capable of understanding what it was about. Trying to piece together the facts of what happened to Teresa Halbach doesn’t make you any less aware of the point of the documentary.

Although somewhat lacking in total clarity, the general consensus seems to be that Kathleen Zellner, Steven Avery's current lawyer, is sharing Avery's thoughts on the news that his former attorneys, Dean Strang and Jerry Buting, are planning a US tour.

Kathleen Zellner has been busting her butt to prove Steven Avery's innocence since she first got involved with his case, and has been extremely vocal, not to mention often cryptic, with her tweets, giving updates on the investigation, and on Avery himself. However, there have been murmurs amongst sceptics that Zellner might be all about the publicity, and claims that her constant "updates" could be viewed as unethical are not uncommon. Today's tweet might have taken those claims up a notch.

Nobody can deny Zellner's record for overturning wrongful convictions. In that area, she's quite the firecracker, and if she can get Steven Avery out, she WILL be a hero. But up until just five days ago, it was still being reported that Strang and Buting were "informally involved in working for Steven." In interviews, Dean Strang said that he and Jerry had even SEEN Steven Avery as recently as December. So why this sudden side swipe by Avery at the two men who fought so hard for him during his trial? And why did Zellner feel the need to share this information with the world?

Regardless of whether people believe Zellner's tweets up until today have been professional, this one may well cross the line - which could explain why it got deleted so fast.

Just for the heck of it, let's take a little look at the way Strang and Buting have conducted themselves.

Remember that moment in Making a Murderer when a reporter asked Dean Strang if Ken Kratz's questioning of Bobby Dassey during the trial equated to misconduct, Strang said, "I'm not here to throw stones." When asked what he thought about Ken Kratz's upcoming book, Strang said, "I think the world needs more books, not fewer, in general." (With perfect grammar too, might I add!). Ken Kratz was the opposition - and yet Strang never once took a single opportunity to criticise him. Zellner herself may not have been the one to make this dig at Strang and Buting - it appears she was acting as a mouthpiece for Steven Avery - but it was entirely her call on whether or not to share it with her 139,000 followers.

Just to reiterate - nobody is questioning Zellner’s track record or her dedication to Steven Avery's case. However, her judgement of what to tweet... well, that one is still up for debate.

EDIT: Since writing this, Kathleen Zellner herself took a shot at Strang and Buting. To say this pissed off their supporters is an understatement, however Dean Strang - once again - showed why he and Jerry are so well-loved by saying this: “That she is criticizing some aspects of the work I did at trial means that she is doing her job.”

You see? It is, in fact, possible to be successful without crapping all over other people.

The Netflix documentary Making a Murderer has taken the world by storm since it hit our screens last December. The story of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey has been the cause of much debate and discussion, and has seen an uprising of armchair sleuths eager to figure out exactly what happened to Teresa Halbach on October 31st 2005.

Let’s be clear here - there is nothing lighthearted about the subject matter. However, what the documentary makers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos did well was inject a touch of lightness here and there, because let’s face it, most people’s stress levels reached a peak while viewing Making a Murderer. So, with that in mind, here is a look at some of the moments that allowed viewers a little smile (and occasionally a giggle) in between the seriousness.

7. Remember this lady? This is Reesa Evans, Steven Avery’s appointed lawyer back in 1985. We saw her a few times through the series, and in comparison with the other lawyers, she was somewhat more… laid back with her speech, let’s say. This moment of honesty was one that stuck in a lot of people’s minds and pretty much reflected everyone’s thoughts when the verdicts came in.

6. That moment when you find a hole in a blood vial and immediately call your partner to let them know. The sheer joy on Jerry Buting’s (affectionately known here as J-Butes :p ) face brought a smile to many viewers because this looked like a major turning point in Steven Avery’s favour.

5. Another moment from Mr. Buting that made us giggle was this little bit of mocking on his way home from a hard day of… lawyering. Also, if you haven’t already, you really should follow Jerry on Twitter (@JButing) - he’s not only interesting, he also has excellent banter with his followers!

4. The look on Dean Strang’s (D-Strang - affectionate term :p) face here is awesome. Everything about him is saying, “I am SO over your crap, Colborn.” What’s missing from this GIF is the way he then very coolly replays the tape and watches Colborn squirm.

3. This one comes in the form of a video, because, firstly I couldn’t find a GIF and secondly, it needs to be heard because it’s freaking hilarious. Yup, it’s the aliens. How Kucharski even had the balls to say, “It’s possible in the sense that aliens put it there,” will always amuse me, but not as much as Jerry’s epic, “There weren’t any aliens in the room, right?” Burn.

2. This moment came after Bobby Dassey’s messed up testimony about “the joke” that he wasn’t actually supposed to be talking about. When Mr. Strang stepped out to speak to reporters, and someone blurted out, “What the hell happened?” - this was the result. The reason this Making a Murderer moment was so welcome was not only because it came after a very serious moment, but because this smile showed a lighter side to Mr. Strang we didn’t get to see enough of. (Plus, he’s adorable!)

1. Without a doubt, this was the best moment of happy in the whole documentary. The first episode was harrowing to watch, hearing the full story of everything Steven Avery went through, so his homecoming was a joy to see. It’s hard to imagine there’s a person in the world who didn’t laugh out loud when Steven was asked who that baby was and he said, “I don’t know.”

We thank Ricciardi and Demos for these moments of lightness that made Making a Murderer that little bit easier to take and allowed us a brief break from the overwhelming emotions we felt while watching.
First airing on Netflix in December 2015, the documentary telling the story of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey quickly picked up a following, and subsequently highlighted the huge amount of flaws in the US criminal justice system.

The natural side effect of anything that becomes well known to the public is the creation of a "fandom". Look at any trend over the years: LOST, Harry Potter, Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, Twilight... every one of those things gripped people and created debates and discussions. Whether it was the question about whether Professor Snape was working for good or evil, or if you were Team Edward or Team Jacob, or... who on earth is A? These things set people talking. Inevitably, you get people bickering amongst themselves, but the very positive plus side is that in amongst all this discussion, friends can be made.

The obvious difference with those things in comparison to Making a Murderer is they are all fictional. When I first got involved with voicing my thoughts and opinions about MaM, I did so with the intention of being fair to all parties - even the ones that are unpopular. Why? Because as much as they are on our screens and viewed as such, they are NOT characters. They are real people. Real people with real things to lose.

I very quickly found like-minded Making a Murderer fans. By like-minded I mean, people who were kept awake at night by the injustice. People who had very few people to discuss the documentary with. People who felt helpless. And on the lighter side, people who eased some of those feelings by sharing memes, giggling over things like the Simpsons parody, and having a joke about the now infamous love the world has for Jerry Buting and Dean Strang.

When I started writing about MaM, the last thing I expected was to make friends. I've made friends through other fandoms, but it genuinely never crossed my mind that I would make more because of Making a Murderer. Much of it happened after my last blog post - the very tongue-in-cheek post about Jerry Buting's Twitter. Imagine the shock when the man himself tweeted that he thought the post and following conversation was funny!

But here's the thing. Whilst we were having a bit of fun, and no doubt will continue to do so, real friendships began to form. And that's amazing to me.

Following on from that though, as much as we enjoy the JButes banter, we're all united in the fact that we want to do something that will help. We want to ask questions. We want to learn about all the ways things went wrong for Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey. You could be forgiven for thinking that just because I focus on the lighter areas when I can, that I don't take this seriously. That I'm not smart. But I do. And I am (well...relatively :p).

And then comes the making a difference part. Not just amongst the real friends I've made, but amongst those I've encountered and had short discussions with, people ARE trying to make a difference. Megan McGuinness and Megan Leigh Prather (apologies if I missed someone!) were involved in a protest outside the Manitowoc County Court House, and a protest is now also being planned in London. People are selling merchandise to raise money for the Innocence Project. People are selling merchandise to help the Avery/Dassey families. People are eager to study law, or they are looking other injustices that have happened. Garrett M. Scott has become an advocate for Valentino Dixon, yet another wrongly accused man sitting in prison for a crime he didn't commit(watch that video - it'll blow your mind).

My point is, when something like MaM comes along, it DOES bring people together and however slowly, it WILL make a difference. And I guess that was the point of the documentary in the first place.

It's no secret that Making a Murderer's favourite criminal defense lawyers Jerry Buting and Dean Strang have captured the hearts and minds of the world since the documentary first landed on Netflix. Take a look around online and you'll see all manner of tributes to this dynamic duo, and rightly so. The level of dedication and integrity they have shown both through the series and since is inspiring, and has given hope to those who were left feeling angry and helpless after watching Steven Avery's story.

Jerry Buting has now become even more of an internet sensation with his kindness, wit, and charm in the crazy world of Twitter. Mr. B is a busy guy, yet he still manages to carve out a little time in his day to talk to his followers, finding the perfect balance between discussing the things that matter, and having a laugh with his fans. Here's a look at 8 times Jerry Buting's Twitter account was the coolest place ever!

1. That time he embraced girl power...

Is there really any better endorsement than this? There are two levels of awesome here. Firstly, the fact that JB used the phrase "girl power" which will always elicit a chuckle - especially from 90's girls who can still hear the chants echoing around their skulls from overexposure to the Spice Girls. And secondly because, it was simply an extremely kind thing to say. Zig-a-zig-ah!

2. That time he showed off his swagger...

If you're a Buting & Strang fan, you'll be fully aware of the amount of awesome and hilarious merchandise now available, and this t-shirt is right up there with the best. When someone tweeted this genius piece of artwork at Jerry, he wasn't shy with his response! ;) The debate about which way around this sentence should be continues to this day in chat rooms across the world!

#JButes was something that slipped out when I was writing an article a while back, and - praise the Lord - it sort of caught on! The fact that Jerry thought this was worthy of a mention made our day!

He says this like it's not normal to set devastatingly handsome lawyers as phone backgrounds. I mean, I guess, it would be weird to have Dean Strang as your phone background... right? No...? *whistles innocently*

This is one of JButes' finest fan interactions. ccbabcocks took one for the team and asked the question many MaM fans wanted to know the answer to. Most would have casually breezed over this but not our Mr. Buting! The fact that he finished, with, "But thanks anyway," just made us love him even more!

It's true. Only people with high intelligence and exquisite taste follow The Buting!

There is no question that there will be many more moments of awesome from Jerry Buting - so if you've yet to see it for yourself, get following him! You'll get the fun stuff, but most importantly (because even though we're having a giggle, the serious stuff matters more) you'll hear info on the Avery case, and all kinds of other legal matters that are affecting people right now.

Mr. Buting - we salute you!

Since December 2015, Netflix documentary Making a Murderer
has become a talking point for the millions of people who watched and learned
the story of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey. For those not in the know, Steven
Avery of Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, was arrested and jailed for eighteen years for a crime he didn’t commit. After filing a civil lawsuit against
Manitowoc County for his wrongful conviction – a claim that could have seen him
being awarded $36 million - he was then re-arrested for the murder of
twenty-five-year-old photographer, Teresa Halbach. Avery’s sixteen-year-old nephew
Brendan Dassey was also jailed for his involvement in the crime. Here’s the problem – the evidence suggesting Avery and Dassey murdered Teresa
Halbach is not without flaw. In fact, if you dig a little deeper, the flaws are
glaringly obvious, and viewers of the documentary are now demanding these men
are given a new and fair trial.

Earlier this year, some of Avery and Dassey’s supporters
participated in a protest at the Manitowoc County Courthouse, eager to make
their voices heard. Now, UK supporters are getting ready to stage their own peaceful protest in
London. I caught up with the organisers, Belinda Wilson and Kayleigh Brandon to
find out more.

When did you first
watch Making a Murderer?

Kayleigh: I had been nagging my boyfriend to watch it since
I first heard about it in December. We finally got around to it in the first
week of January. I was instantly hooked, and had to devour it – I couldn’t even
wait for the evenings to watch with my boyfriend! Haha, sorry!

Belinda: I started watching Making a Murderer on 15/1/16. I kept seeing the
Netflix advert on Facebook. When I was flicking through Netflix I saw it and
decided to watch it. I watched the whole ten episodes in one go. My life then
changed.

What were your initial thoughts after watching the
documentary?

Kayleigh: Shock. Disbelief. Outrage.

Belinda: Anger. Disgust. Sad. Helpless.

What in particular
about Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey’s stories affected you?

Kayleigh: With Steven, I was appalled at the blatant class
warfare going on. I was hugely disturbed that a system which is meant to exist
to see justice served contrived so purposefully and maliciously to steal this
man’s life for a crime he was innocent of. He has almost no relationship with
his four children as a result. All this, despite him having over a dozen witnesses
to alibi him, and a timed receipt from a restaurant miles away from the crime! I was drawn to Brendan as he is the same age as me (born only two weeks to the
day after myself). I felt guilt at the rites of passage I have enjoyed
(learning to drive, first job, buying a house etc.) whilst he has been behind bars,
and a deep, uneasy sense that it could have been any of us manipulated in that
way as a naïve child. I also work with kids, so I am keenly aware of their
vulnerability.

Belinda: With Steven's story, I was extremely sad that
Steven had lost eighteen years of his life and his children's lives, seeing his
marriage fall apart. Hearing the pain in his voice, seeing the pain in his
face. I was appalled at what lengths the prosecution was willing to go to get a
conviction for both the rape and murder. Brendan's story hit hard. Being a
youth support worker myself, for children with learning disabilities, I
instantly felt the need to protect Brendan. Seeing Brendan go through intense
interrogation by those so-called professionals made me feel physically sick.
Still haunts me now.

When did you first
think of the idea for a UK protest?

Kayleigh: After the recent protests in Manitowoc and
Madison, many UK supporters had expressed a desire for something similar over
here. I suggested it a few times on various posts and got lots of likes, but it
wasn’t until I connected with Belinda that I found somebody willing to go for
it!

Belinda: After watching closely on the family Facebook page
and seeing their protest coming together, I felt gutted that I lived so far
away. I felt helpless. I wanted to be there showing my support to Steven,
Brendan and his family. I also wanted to express my disgust at the criminal
justice system. I posted a post to the Facebook group with my intentions for a
protest in the UK as I received private messages from people in the UK who
felt as helpless as I did. There was a lot of interest and this is how Kayleigh
and I came together and decided to set up an events page

Can you give us some
more details of what will happen on the day of the protest?

Kayleigh: April 2nd 2016. 11am US Embassy then 2pm Parliament
Square. People are free to join at any point in the day they like, and any
short time they can spare would be hugely appreciated! People are encouraged to
use their imagination and create their own signs, but we will likely have some
spares! We have ‘FREE STEVEN AVERY & BRENDAN DASSEY’ t-shirts available,
and are also encouraging people to make an impact visually with orange
jumpsuits, handcuffs, taped mouths, etc. We want to show solidarity with Steven
and Brendan whilst also commenting on the way the US system is trying to hush
up this injustice. We have international MMA fighter Jimmy ‘Justice’ Millar
attending, as well as former US prisoner turned author/public speaker Shaun
Attwood. We have received messages of support from Jerry Buting, and the admin
and family in the official family Facebook page.

As you can see, these ladies are extremely passionate about this cause, and they are ready to get out there and seek some justice! If you would like to be part of this protest, you can find all the details on their Facebook events page here.
Around three days, to be precise!

Now, those of you who have followed this blog for a while will know I have written about Fozzy VIPs before. But they aren't quite the same as they used to be. The band has evolved, more people want to come to VIP, and so things had to change a little. This is NO bad thing.

On Sunday, I headed to Southampton to experience Fozzy VIP 2015, and I have to say, I loved it! As always, we were given a signed photo, early access to merchandise, a group VIP photo, plus individual photos with the band. That would be enough of a treat for most fans, but what's new this year is the soundcheck, the mini private gig, and a question and answer session!

"Why do we need a mini private gig?" I hear you ask! Well, I'll tell you! First and foremost, the best thing for me was the chance to be very close to the stage and enjoy a bit of the show without any concerns about being squished against the barriers. I know, I know - that is all part of the fun, but not everyone is as... moshy as some, and some of the VIP'ers I spoke to were thrilled because this private show meant they could relax and take very close up photos without any concerns. Not only that, but Fozzy take requests - and not just their own songs, either. In Southampton, we were treated to an awesome version of You Really Got Me that had everyone rocking out!

The Q&A session was also a brilliant addition to the VIP package. A lot of times, if you meet a band member in passing, there isn't enough time to ask a question, and if there is, the answer can be rushed because these guys don't have a lot of time to chat. This designated time for questions was brilliant as it meant everyone who had something they always wanted to ask could so in a relaxed way, without feeling too hurried.

One thing I always need to mention when it comes to Fozzy VIP is this: A lot of times people are on the fence about whether to upgrade to the VIP package. The reasons for the hesitation vary, but a lot of fans want to know firstly if it's value for money, and secondly, whether they can handle their nerves! The answer to question one is yes, it's absolutely worth the money! I have done VIP a few times, and each time it's different, for different reasons. I have never had two identical VIP experiences, and as you get to know the band better, you will eventually end up with your own inside jokes! And nerves? Perfectly normal, but the guys are SO down to earth, they put you at ease from the first hello.

SO, if you are considering a VIP package - just go for it!

Also, if you are a Fozzy virgin, it's a really good idea to let them pop your cherry, because you will leave their shows with a buzz that cannot be beaten.

Kyra Lennonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3789225946771546240.post-58128069233457063342014-05-22T12:37:00.000+01:002016-02-15T16:42:27.965+00:00Sandcastle Of Love by Dan GodlinBy now, you should all know how much I love discovering new, talented people, so yesterday when I heard about a cool new song, I was more than happy to buy it, and let everyone know about it!

A while back, I interviewed the lovely Erin Alden. It was through Erin that I heard about Sandcastle Of Love by Dan Godlin, because Erin co-wrote it!

I must confess, I didn't know anything of Dan Godlin, but I do know that Erin associates with the best talent there is, and Dan is no exception.

Dan Godlin released his debut album, Loving On Empty in 2011, and followed it with an EP titled In Between in 2012. Having just heard this one new track, I am very much looking forward to listening to Dan's back catalogue, and super excited to hear what he has coming up in the future!

You can listen to more from Dan Godlin right here. If you are a fan of Jason Mraz, you will adore this song; it's mellow and catchy and will put you in the perfect mood for summer!

Kyra Lennonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3789225946771546240.post-930265070413238222014-05-20T11:00:00.000+01:002016-02-15T16:42:27.979+00:00Album Review: Heads Or Tails by Kieron CoxEvery now and again, I will get followed on Twitter by a kickass musician. Most recently, I was followed by a young man named Kieron Cox. Kieron currently lives in Berkshire, but travels around the UK for gigs - you can check out his gig dates here.

Kieron very kindly provided me a copy of his album Head Or Tails, and I must say, it's pretty impressive!

I'd like to start with a quick note about the tone of Kieron Cox's voice. The first thing I did when he followed me was check out his YouTube videos, and I was instantly smitten with his sound. It's smooth, but there is a gorgeous hint of gravelly-ness (yes I know that's not a word :p) which makes his voice stand out from all the other musicians out there who are trying to make it big. These days, a unique voice is more than half the battle, and on that front, Kieron has got it made.

Now, onto the album.

There are twelve tracks on Heads Or Tails, and there's not really a dud amongst them. Most albums do have a track or two that have me reaching for the "skip" button, but I love every single song on this one.

By far, my favourite track is Half As Much, a beautiful ballad about hoping to mean something to that special person. It wouldn't be out of place on a Savage Garden album - it has those perfect lyrics that instantly target your inner romantic and make you go all sappy. I would even go as far as to say that Kieron Cox does sound a teensy bit like Darren Hayes.

Other notable ballads on the album include The Moment, and I'll Be Waiting For You, but Kieron isn't a one-trick pony who filled Heads Or Tails with slushy boyband type tracks. Sure, love is a strong theme, but it's not all slow and mushy.

Will You be My Girl is a funky little number with a great beat, and the ridiculously catchy Win Some, Lose Some will have you singing along in no time.

Time Shoots Us Down, in my humble opinion, knocks the socks off the other tracks lyrically. Amongst all the other songs, this is the one that creeps into my head at random points during the day.

Overall, Heads Or Tails is an excellent debut album from a talented young man who has a bright future ahead of him!

You can find out more about Kieron on his website. Go listen right now!!

Kyra Lennonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3789225946771546240.post-54657741174763009292014-02-19T10:08:00.000+00:002016-02-15T16:42:27.994+00:00Solving the Mystery of Pretty Little Liars: Who is Dead, and Who is A?It's been a really long time since I wrote about Pretty Little Liars, however, I recently started a rewatch - I'm midway through Season 2 right now - and desperately searching for clues to bring us to where we are now.

Yes, that was my exact face at the end of the latest episode! :p

In last week's black and white episode, Ali (Sasha Pieterse) said something that has stayed with me. She said, "You have all the pieces." She was telling Spencer (Troian Bellisario) that she has everything she needs to solve the mystery of A - but I don't think she was strictly talking to her. I think she was talking to the viewer.

I think it's us who have all the pieces of the puzzle.

Over time, almost everyone in the show has been under suspicion of being A/Ali's murderer.

But this week, a new piece slotted into place - that of Spencer's former drug problem.

We have seen her recently. She's tense, not sleeping, looking like the walking dead, and having full on hallucinations in a world of black and white.

And now we have the bombshell. Two years ago, Spencer had the same problem. TWO YEARS. When Alison disappeared. Remember all that time ago, in the pilot episode where Spencer wandered back into the barn and announced Alison was gone. There was not even the slightest question about whether she'd just gone home. It was like fact. She's gone.

People who know me, and have read my early theories will know that Spencer was my number one suspect at the start. I didn't like her, and I didn't trust her. Over time, I fell in love with her, but I have never been able to shake off the memory of that first episode.

Spencer on drugs. Who else used to get off their heads on drugs around that time? Jason (Drew Van Acker), Ian (Ryan Merriman), Garrett (Yani Gellman) and their friends. Now, I don't believe those things are linked, but remember how Jason couldn't remember the night Ali went missing? Perhaps this is foreshadowing - and it was Spencer who did the killing.

Obviously, Ali isn't dead, but someone is. And I'm thinking Spencer may have been the one to do it.

As for Ezra (Ian Harding)- and his connection to Mona (Janel Parrish) and Jenna (Tammin Sursok). Well, that is somewhat more complex. Ezra revealed he was writing a book about Ali, and confessed he originally used Aria (Lucy Hale) for information. But what about all the A activity? What about all the watching, and the creepy notes? Him being a "reporter" - I use the word loosely, some of the things he filmed were downright creepy - explains the cameras everywhere, however unethical. But what of the threats? If he wasn't guilty of some of the horrific things A did - how did he know about Toby's tattoo and bike helmet? And why would he be involved in that if he genuinely loved Aria as much as he says?

Mona was helping him in some way - this has been confirmed. But in what way? Is she getting close to Mike (Cody Allen Christian) as a way to get closer to Aria? OR - another theory that has been brewing for a while is that it is Mike himself that is A. That boy has so far been the most pointless character ever to be in a TV show - there has to be a reason for him, right?

Let us not rule out the other thing that could be a clue. Wren's (Julian Morris) prescription pad in Spencer's purse. This was a tiny, tiny thing but along with my questions about Mike, I have often thought Wren might be A, or at least involved. Evidence? He helped Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) with Ian, so he knew where to find him, and he was working at Radley - and acting somewhat suspiciously there. He could easily have given Mona everything she needed to keep attacking the other girls. Keep in mind, when there is a British character in a US show, a lot of the time, they end up being the bad guy! But there are subtle things. He gave Spencer an amazing massage early on, and Emily (Shay Mitchell) once got some A treatment in the form of a massage at a spa - the joys of re-watching! What we don't have is a motive. Ali liked older guys for sure, but really? Ian, Ezra, Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson), AND Wren? Not only is it creepy how many older men have been involved with a girl who was only fourteen or fifteen at the time, it's hard to believe Ali would have managed to get the attention of all them, no matter how beautiful she was. But stranger things have happened...MUCH stranger things.

The black gloved hands at the end of each episode since Ezra was revealed to be A suggest that we are still wrong. There is still someone else to be afraid of. If those hands belonged to Ezra, why not just show his face since we're supposed to "know" he's behind it all?

So -- I realise this is a little bit of a mish-mash of thoughts, but let's lay this out more clearly:

Spencer may have been the murderer (though who she killed is a bit of a mystery). I am quite into the "Ali had a twin" theory, there have been several hints about this.

Ezra hasn't yet been totally honest, and I think there is a lot more we don't know

Mona might not be the devil anymore, but it's not time to trust her completely just yet

Keep a close eye on Wren - he's not just a pretty face!

Kyra Lennonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3789225946771546240.post-8985882373138092382013-09-10T08:56:00.000+01:002016-02-15T16:42:28.011+00:00Help an Artist! Merry Ellen Kirk Needs You!Regular followers of this blog will have heard me singing the praises of the uber talented Merry Ellen Kirk. The first time I heard her EP, "Feather & A Leaf," I was blown away - so much so that I wrote this. Four months later, I have almost all of Merry Ellen's recordings, and the tracks on "Feather & A Leaf" are amongst my Most Played list on iTunes.

Right now, Merry Ellen Kirk is listed on ArtistSignal, vying to be September's most voted for artist. If she wins, there's a $10,000 prize, and no doubt you can understand just how much that would help her out in recording more material, and getting herself better known - as she very much deserves to be. As things stand, she is in the top ten, which is an amazing achievement in itself! By following this link, you can vote for Merry Ellen, and help her take the top spot. It had had the heading ALL LADIES MUST WATCH. Normally, I ignore that kind of thing, but the two shirtless men in the preview video caught my eye! ;)

What the video actually is, is an advert for a new free app for women, to remind them to regularly check their breasts for abnormalities, but it's done in such a way that it's not clinical and dull. It's funny, and when dealing with something as serious as breast cancer, you need to lighten the fears just a little.

This video is actually a year old, but whether you've seen it before or not, it's still a great way for ladies to remember to regularly check themselves! Enjoy!

Kyra Lennonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3789225946771546240.post-17016190702746690272013-08-30T07:52:00.000+01:002016-02-15T16:42:28.040+00:00Fozzy Merchandise Alert!!Anyone who loves Fozzy will know that Fozzy band merchandise isn't all that easy to come by if you can't get to a gig. There are websites that sell Fozzy t-shirts and hoodies, but the only hoodies I've been able to find are super old, and don't have the current band line-up on them. :( However, new merchandise is now available from a superb company called Fable Label.

Right now, they have three Fozzy t-shirt designs: The brand new "Spider" t-shirt, the Sin & Bones 2013 Europe tour t-shirt, and the Gaga Must Be Destroyed t-shirt. I picked up a Spider t-shirt on the tour, and I can more than vouch for the quality of the material and the design. They are fantastic, so if you've always wanted a Fozzy t-shirt, you have no more excuses to delay - especially since they are offering a 15% discount with the code: FOZZYROCKS

Another awesome thing: when I discovered Fable Label, I asked about the possibility of them making girl t-shirts, since I am not keen on wearing massive over-sized man shirts, and I know a lot of other female Fozzy fans have said the same thing. The fabulous people at Fable Label said, yes! So, keep your eyes peeled, ladies!

Kyra Lennonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3789225946771546240.post-53110117252789259012013-08-22T09:14:00.000+01:002016-02-15T16:42:28.053+00:00Chris Jericho in 'Jon Davis Gets a Sex Robot'Hard to know where to start with this one LOL!

So, Chris Jericho, man of many talents, is involved with a brand new project from The YOMYOMF Network! The project? A YouTube mini series called "Jon Davis Gets A Sex Robot".

The title is self-explanatory.

I gotta say, this bizarre little show appeals to the twisted side of my personality, and after watching the first two episodes (webisodes?), I'm hooked!

The most recent episode featured Mr Jericho as Rob, Jon Davis' sex obsessed buddy. The guy has a mouth that would make a sailor blush - and possibly enough... erm... enthusiasm... to require the sex robot to need re-programming! (Seriously, watch it!)

Jericho throws out some exceptional lines during Episode 2. I feel "Jizz It Up, Bro," is about to become one of those classic lines amongst those in the know, and will adorn t-shirts across the world! You really do need to check this out if you like twisted, and aren't easily offended. DO NOT WATCH if you're sensitive because your ears will bleed. :p

As great as the guys are in this show, I wanna also give a HUGE shoutout to Riki Lindhome because the dry humour she brings as Layla is perfect.

Bring on Episode 3!

Kyra Lennonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com0
