Solving the Mystery of Pretty Little Liars: Who is Dead, and Who is A?

It's been a really long time since I wrote about Pretty Little Liars, however, I recently started a rewatch - I'm midway through Season 2 right now - and desperately searching for clues to bring us to where we are now.

Yes, that was my exact face at the end of the latest episode! :p

In last week's black and white episode, Ali (Sasha Pieterse) said something that has stayed with me. She said, "You have all the pieces." She was telling Spencer (Troian Bellisario) that she has everything she needs to solve the mystery of A - but I don't think she was strictly talking to her. I think she was talking to the viewer.

I think it's us who have all the pieces of the puzzle.

Over time, almost everyone in the show has been under suspicion of being A/Ali's murderer.

But this week, a new piece slotted into place - that of Spencer's former drug problem.

We have seen her recently. She's tense, not sleeping, looking like the walking dead, and having full on hallucinations in a world of black and white.

And now we have the bombshell. Two years ago, Spencer had the same problem. TWO YEARS. When Alison disappeared. Remember all that time ago, in the pilot episode where Spencer wandered back into the barn and announced Alison was gone. There was not even the slightest question about whether she'd just gone home. It was like fact. She's gone.

People who know me, and have read my early theories will know that Spencer was my number one suspect at the start. I didn't like her, and I didn't trust her. Over time, I fell in love with her, but I have never been able to shake off the memory of that first episode.

Spencer on drugs. Who else used to get off their heads on drugs around that time? Jason (Drew Van Acker), Ian (Ryan Merriman), Garrett (Yani Gellman) and their friends. Now, I don't believe those things are linked, but remember how Jason couldn't remember the night Ali went missing? Perhaps this is foreshadowing - and it was Spencer who did the killing.

Obviously, Ali isn't dead, but someone is. And I'm thinking Spencer may have been the one to do it.

As for Ezra (Ian Harding)- and his connection to Mona (Janel Parrish) and Jenna (Tammin Sursok). Well, that is somewhat more complex. Ezra revealed he was writing a book about Ali, and confessed he originally used Aria (Lucy Hale) for information. But what about all the A activity? What about all the watching, and the creepy notes? Him being a "reporter" - I use the word loosely, some of the things he filmed were downright creepy - explains the cameras everywhere, however unethical. But what of the threats? If he wasn't guilty of some of the horrific things A did - how did he know about Toby's tattoo and bike helmet? And why would he be involved in that if he genuinely loved Aria as much as he says?

Mona was helping him in some way - this has been confirmed. But in what way? Is she getting close to Mike (Cody Allen Christian) as a way to get closer to Aria? OR - another theory that has been brewing for a while is that it is Mike himself that is A. That boy has so far been the most pointless character ever to be in a TV show - there has to be a reason for him, right?

Let us not rule out the other thing that could be a clue. Wren's (Julian Morris) prescription pad in Spencer's purse. This was a tiny, tiny thing but along with my questions about Mike, I have often thought Wren might be A, or at least involved. Evidence? He helped Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) with Ian, so he knew where to find him, and he was working at Radley - and acting somewhat suspiciously there. He could easily have given Mona everything she needed to keep attacking the other girls. Keep in mind, when there is a British character in a US show, a lot of the time, they end up being the bad guy! But there are subtle things. He gave Spencer an amazing massage early on, and Emily (Shay Mitchell) once got some A treatment in the form of a massage at a spa - the joys of re-watching! What we don't have is a motive. Ali liked older guys for sure, but really? Ian, Ezra, Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson), AND Wren? Not only is it creepy how many older men have been involved with a girl who was only fourteen or fifteen at the time, it's hard to believe Ali would have managed to get the attention of all them, no matter how beautiful she was. But stranger things have happened...MUCH stranger things.

The black gloved hands at the end of each episode since Ezra was revealed to be A suggest that we are still wrong. There is still someone else to be afraid of. If those hands belonged to Ezra, why not just show his face since we're supposed to "know" he's behind it all?

So -- I realise this is a little bit of a mish-mash of thoughts, but let's lay this out more clearly:

Spencer may have been the murderer (though who she killed is a bit of a mystery). I am quite into the "Ali had a twin" theory, there have been several hints about this.

Ezra hasn't yet been totally honest, and I think there is a lot more we don't know

Mona might not be the devil anymore, but it's not time to trust her completely just yet

Keep a close eye on Wren - he's not just a pretty face!

Pretty Little Liars - Who Can We Trust?

So, "Pretty Little Liars" returned last night, and you know what that means? Yes, I get to drool over Caleb again! ;) But not just that - it means that we get to delve right back into the twisted plotline, and drive ourselves nuts trying to untangle all the little clues we've been given.

I've written articles about the show since the very beginning, and if you snoop around on the blog long enough, you'll find some posts which relate to the first season. I plan to stay more up to date from now on!

Right away, we were thrown straight back into the action when Mona (Janel Parrish) returned to school after her stay at Radley.

Wasn't much of a stay, to be honest, as she slipped in and out of there like it was the easiest thing in the world, but I digress. The point is, with both her and Toby (Keegan Allen) on the A-Team, it's getting harder and harder to know who the Liars can trust.

So - take a look at this from Yahoo TV, and let me know if you agree - and also tell me who else you think we can or can't trust!

Unbelievable!

The season finale of Pretty Little Liars came last night and I feel....ever so slightly let down.

Let's be fair. Many of the events that happenn in the show rely on the suspension of belief just a little bit. But it never really goes so far that you think it is ridiculous. With the way things ended last night though, I'm not really sure what to think. How many suspects are there for being "A"?!

I think it's a fairly safe bet that Ian killed Ali, but what's with the dodgy policeman?! I wondered if he was genuine when he first appeared on the screen but it's obvious now that he isn't. But I really hate the introduction of a new dodgy character so late in the game. What is he doing with Jenna?!

I muchly enjoyed the suspense of the Spencer/Ian fight towards the end. He is a true psychopath! First question though, why do girls in danger always run UP the stairs?! What is the reasoning???? Second question, what happened to the little flash drive with all the videos on after Spencer threw it at him? Was it left on the floor or did he take it? The part when the other girls rushed in to find Spencer and we saw Ian hanging from the ropes was fantastic but had he really been dead - it would have looked as though Spencer may have killed him.

My brain could not cope with the prospect that he somehow escaped strangulation. Did the mysterious stranger who saved Spencer then go back and rescue Ian?! How did he get out of those ropes?!

Of course, the bigger question is....who was the mysterious stranger? I thought the shot on Noel was interesting, so he could perhaps have had something to do with it.

I can't work out why I feel a little let down by the last episode. I enjoyed watching it, and it was certainly full of drama. I think I was hoping for a few more answers. I also wanted to see more of both Caleb and Toby *lol*

And now we have to wait longer than ever to find out what happens next :( On the plus side though, Pretty Little Liars will be released on DVD in the US quite soon so you can re-watch all the action to your heart's content!

A Person of Interest? Pretty Little Liars!!!!

Warning!! If you did not see the PLL episode titled "A Person of Interest", this post contains spoilers!

Oh Em Gee! How amazing was last night's episode of Pretty Little Liars?!

I must start by saying that for the first half of the season I was convinced that Spencer murdered Ali, but as we got to know her, I figured it was unlikely. I now feel desperately sorry for her as it seems that someone is trying to frame her. I could have cried when her parents told her she needs to see a therapist! :( However, there were moments of awesome for Spencer! ;) Kissing Toby must have been high on her list of things she could never have predicted! He is quite lovely though. The strong, silent type! :D I hope he can find a way to save her.

The situation with Ian is getting weirder and weirder. He claimed that Ali was stalking him, and from what we learned yesterday it seems that his story is starting to make sense. The only part that still doesn't tie in is the video of him possibly murdering Ali. But even if he didn't do it, he was there that night and he must know SOMETHING.And what was he doing giving Jenna a bag? And why is she hiding it? Too many questions!

I still can't bring myself to feel too sorry for Melissa. She isn't as bitchy as she first appeared but there is something about her that rubs me up the wrong way. I can't help again being suspicious that SHE killed Ali. She made a comment a while back about Ali's game-playing probably being the thing that got her killed. Hmmmm.

Emily and Paige was....interesting. Understanding as I am, I still wouldn't necessarily want to hang out with someone who tried to drown me, even if she is confused. Emily is an angel though, and I loved seeing her out with Paige at the karaoke bar. They fit together well but...what about Maya? I know she is away at bad girl camp but, they never officially broke up and Emily seemed to get over her very quickly. Whatever, I think she made the right decision about being just friends with Paige. I am looking forward to seeing where things go from here.

Hanna. Oh, Hanna! I adore that girl - and I am deeply jealous about her getting on with Caleb because he is HOT! :p He is far more suited to her than Sean ever was, and she finally lost the virginity she seemed to eager to lose! Alas, she may get her heart broken because it seems that there really IS more to Caleb than first met the eye. His phonecall to someone we don't know saying he is done suggests he has some part in the "A" fiasco. Perhaps Hanna and Aria were right when they said all of those phones they found in school were the property of "A". I'm going to take a new stab in the dark here and say he was calling Jenna - and the reason he told Hanna he couldn't unlock Jenna's phone was because he knew there were things on it that he didn't want Hanna to see. The plus side is that Caleb actually may have morals after all but if Hanna finds out he had to do with the suffering she has been through, she will never want to see him again. :(

I genuinely don't know how I will cope when the season ends! I am officially addicted!

P.S Sorry for any rambling - my overexcited brain needed to share my thoughts quickly!

A Beginner's Guide to Pretty Little Liars - The Complete Collection

Hey peeps!

A while ago I showed off a couple of my Pretty Little Liars guides and over the last couple of weeks I have been slowly adding to the collection. I am pleased to tell you that they are all done now, so I wanted to post them all here for quick and easy access! Before I do that, I wanted to say that I had intended to write I final article detailing the parents of the Pretty Little Liars because they have been rather important in the show too. However, there just wasn't enough on all of the parents for me to do this so I will post a bit here.

Spencer's parents - Spencer's family is rich and outgoing. Her father is a very determined man, intent on winning at any cost. He looks down on the "little people" who he considers below him. Spencer's mother initially came across as being very much like her husband. It was later revealed that she has a softer side, and was so afraid of being cast aside for not being perfect, she hid the fact that she had a lump removed from her breast from everyone in the family.

Emily's parents - Emily's father has just returned home from Afghanistan after being away with the army for a long time. He seems like a pretty decent guy so far. Emily's mother is a little like Spencer's father in the sense that everything has to be "perfect". Anything differing from the norm is unacceptable.

Hanna''s parents - Seperated. Hanna's dad is to get re-married but I don;t think he will be very important to the show. It's her mother Ashley who is interesting. Ashley is not above doing something bad in desperate times. She slept with the police officer who arrested Hanna for shoplifting so he would drop the charges. In the last episode before the mid-season break, we saw Ashley stealing money from a very old lady who left behind the key to her safety deposit box at the bank where Ashley works.

Aria's parents - Also seperated after her father Byron's affair was revealed. Her mother Ella moved out of the family home and is trying to get herself together. Byron is equally struggling two look after their two children all by himself. He has been spending an increasing amount of time with Ashley.

Okay, that's that done! *lol* Now for the full beginner's guide to Pretty Little Liars!

I am sad to have to say a farewell to Pretty Little Liars today. Thankfully, it is just heading off for a mid season break but...man my Wednesday morning are going to be boring from now on!

Congratulations to ABC Family for taking this fantastic show and introducing us to the awesomeness of Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Ashley Benson and Troian Bellisario. These fine young actresses will all continue to have a bright future and I am not the only one who thinks so! Pretty Little Liars won three Teen Choice Awards this week which further proves how brilliant they are!

Pretty Little Liars Goodness

Although I am a huge fan of Pretty Little Liars, it is certainly not without faults. I have made honest judgements when writing recaps of the show because it doesn't feel right to just say the positive things and not point out the bad things. Liking a show does not (or shouldn't) make you blind to its faults.

That said, this week's episode of Pretty Little Liars was absolutely superb. Amazing acting all around from the girls. Is it weird that although Toby Cavanaugh is creepy, I cannot help but find him a little bit hot? :D

Anyways, if you need a recap of what happened this week, take a look at me Recap of Pretty Little Liars episode There's No Place Like Homecoming

Cheryl Cole Update, plus Pretty Little Liars Recap!

I'm gutted to report the news that Cheryl Cole's malaria is not getting any better yet. I was hoping to wake up to hear that the worst was over, but unfortunately the nation's sweetheart is still in intensive care. :( Keep fighting Cheryl, we know you're tough enough to do it!

In other news, Pretty Little Liars was on yesterday! YAY! I am ITCHING to make Pretty Little Liars graphics but I have got a ton of articles to write before I can consider slacking off! Anyways - watched the episode this morning and it was pretty good. Not one of my favourites but every now and again these slower episodes need to happen to prepare us for the bigger events! Pretty Little Liars

See, I came back  just like I promised! :D

Today I want to share my latest obsesssion. A new teen drama showing  on ABC Family called Pretty Little Liars. I live in the UK, so unfortunately I am forced to watch online for now, but for the Brits who are reading I am very hopeful it will get picked up over here at some point.
The show is based on a series of books by Sara Shepherd - if you've read them, please don't post spoilers. ;) It centres around four girls, Aria, Hannah, Emily and Spencer whose best friend  Alison mysteriously disappeared one night when they were having a sleepover. A year after her disappearance, the girls start receiving creepy messages from "A", and they begin to think Alison is still alive....until her body is discovered. All of the messages they receive hint at secrets only Alison knew but the question is - who is sending them?

Pretty Little Liars has reached episode four and many things have twisted and turned since then. If you want to catch up, I have written recaps on every episode so far:

Review of Pretty Little Liars (Pilot)

Recap of Pretty Little Liars Episode "The Jenna Thing"

Recap of Pretty Little Liars Episode "To Kill a Mocking Girl"

Recap of Pretty Little Liars Episode "Can You Hear Me Now"

If you're watching this show, please let me know what you think of it - but remember to keep it spoiler free ;) Thanks!
