Pottermore is born! (Well, nearly)

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 13:56 in ,
OMG!!!!

After hearing that J.K Rowling had a new project upcoming, I was both excited and nervous. Having been a Harry Potter fan for a long time, it was nice to have something new to be excited about but at the same time, I was worried it might not be as interesting as people were hoping.

How wrong was I?! Potter more is set to be a new interactive world of Harry Potter where you can immerse yourself in the stories in a brand new way. Not only that, but J.K Rowling is set to reveal previously untold information about the story - yay!

For more about this awesome news, please read: J.K Rowling's "Pottermore" Revealed

Summer Movies!

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 10:04 in ,
It's really starting to look like summer now - at least where I live! The sun is shining and although there is still a little bit of a chill in the air, it is considerably warmer than it has been lately.

Summer means it's time for a summer movie marathon. There are so many films out there that really capture the spirit of the season. My favourites are the ones with excellent humor, or an adventure of some kind. "Grease" will always top my list though, simply because it reminds me how much fun high school was (sometimes) and the music is great.

Here is a look at 10 of the Best Summer Movies of All Time. Is your favorite there? If not, let me know what it is in the comments!

John Cho talks Flashforward!

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 08:37 in ,
It's here! I posted last week about how I interviewed John Cho about Flashforward - now the interview has finally been published - yippeee!!!!!

When Flashforward was brought to an abrupt end last year, many things were left unanswered. Although John Cho couldn't answer the question of what might have been - he did throw around a few theories and ideas, some of which may be surprising to some. However, by far the most important part of this interview was hearing how he felt about the fans and their efforts to keep Flashforward on the air. Read what he had to say here: An Interview with John Cho - Flashback to Flashforward.

P.S I could have written a better post, but I am too excited! :p

Farmville Goes Gaga!

Farmville Goes Gaga

Yup, that's right - Lady Gaga is about to get her own farm! Well, virtually, at least.

My attention was brought to this story by my friend Clare (Thanks!!) and my first impression was to laugh out loud! Lady Gaga and Farmville don't really seem like the most logical of things to combine. But now I think about it a little more - I am kinda excited. I like FarmVille, I like Lady Gaga - how could I not love it?? I can't deny the weirdness of the idea though. What do you think? Good, bad or couldn't care less?

The night my Flashforward came true

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 09:50 in ,
Last night I had a dream come true. I spoke to John Cho on the phone and got to interview him about Flashforward!!

I have just been listening to some of the recording of the interview and am mildly concerned that I may have lacked a touch of professionalism in my overwhelming excitement! *blushes*

While I can't claim to know him after one call, my level of respect for John Cho multiplied last night. What I learned was that he really cares about his work and is very, very genuine. I am deeply honored to have had the chance to speak with him - and I'm not sure if my brain will ever fully understand that it really happened. There is a lot of work to do before the interview is published but I will keep you posted!

Without going into too much detail before I publish the interview - I will say that many Flashforward questions were answered. Perhaps not enough to satisfy everyone's curiosity but certainly enough that I feel a certain amount of closure now.

Not many people get the chance to say they spoke to a star of TV and movies from the comfort of their bedroom! *lol* It amazes me that such a thing can really happen.

Thank you, Mr Cho, for making my Flashforward become a reality.

A is for Alden - Erin Alden

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 08:45 in , ,
Before I get started with today's post, I must let you all know that I am participating in a brand new blogging challenge which will get me posting more regularly! A very awesome blog started the A-Z Blogging Challenge and I figured that as I haven't been posting too regularly, I ought to get involved! Basically, every day through April (excluding Sundays) I will be posting a new blog entry corresponding to the letters of the alphabet. If you want to join in, just follow the link above or click on the graphic in the sidebar about the challenge. On the official challenge page you will see the enormous list of people who are involved, and it will be a good opportunity to meet brand new bloggers!

So, on to today's post!

Last year I was given the chance to interview an amazing singer from Los Angeles by the name of Erin Alden. Erin is not only a singer, but a fabulous songwriter too. Her music, which can be heard on her MySpace page, is the kind of music you will find yourself singing throughout the day. It's catchy, thoughtful and different from much of the dross that can be heard in the charts. Check out more about her here: An Interview With Erin Alden

P.S There is a good chance I posted this interview before, but now seemed like a good time to re-post!

Best Movies of the 80s

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 12:22 in
Back in the 1980s, when I was just a little kid, some of the movies released were fabulous. Granted, I didn't get to see most of them for at least six or seven years after they were released but that didn't seem to lessen the brilliance of them. 80s movies seem to have a timelessness to them. Even after so many years, you can still sit down to watch them and enjoy them the way you did when they were first released. Movies such as E.T have gone on to be classics for kids who weren't even thought of in the 80s. I wonder how many of today's films will stand the test of time so well.

The 1980’s was a time of great movies. Although the movies back then weren’t filled with stunning animation and 3D effects, the simplicity of them was a part of what made them so endearing. Actors such as Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze and Drew Barrymore were just beginning their rise to superstardom and the "Brat Pack" were in their prime. ....Read more about Best Movies of the 80s

R.I.P Kurt Cobain

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 15:48 in ,
Recently I was reminded of a fascination I used to have with Kurt Cobain. When I was a teenager, I had a boyfriend who loved Nirvana. Back then, I didn't really appreciate the music, but I remember thinking there was something about the lead singer that was....charismatic. Unfortunately, by the time I fell in love with him, it was too late. He had ended his life. But as I learned more about him, more about his life and his love of art and music, the more I was saddened by his death.

When I was challenged to write an article about Kurt Cobain last week, I was a little dubious. If you have been reading my blog for a long time, you will know that I am not a grunge girl. I like cheesy music and boy bands! But that fascination for the man behind Nirvana was still lurking under the surface. With a little help from my friend, I managed to pull together an article about the life of Kurt Cobain and I must say, I am quite proud of it. I would like to say a huge thanks to Simon Cox for his guidance - your knowledge is incredible!

Unbelievable!

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 09:09 in ,
The season finale of Pretty Little Liars came last night and I feel....ever so slightly let down.

Let's be fair. Many of the events that happenn in the show rely on the suspension of belief just a little bit. But it never really goes so far that you think it is ridiculous. With the way things ended last night though, I'm not really sure what to think. How many suspects are there for being "A"?!

I think it's a fairly safe bet that Ian killed Ali, but what's with the dodgy policeman?! I wondered if he was genuine when he first appeared on the screen but it's obvious now that he isn't. But I really hate the introduction of a new dodgy character so late in the game. What is he doing with Jenna?!

I muchly enjoyed the suspense of the Spencer/Ian fight towards the end. He is a true psychopath! First question though, why do girls in danger always run UP the stairs?! What is the reasoning???? Second question, what happened to the little flash drive with all the videos on after Spencer threw it at him? Was it left on the floor or did he take it? The part when the other girls rushed in to find Spencer and we saw Ian hanging from the ropes was fantastic but had he really been dead - it would have looked as though Spencer may have killed him.

My brain could not cope with the prospect that he somehow escaped strangulation. Did the mysterious stranger who saved Spencer then go back and rescue Ian?! How did he get out of those ropes?!

Of course, the bigger question is....who was the mysterious stranger? I thought the shot on Noel was interesting, so he could perhaps have had something to do with it.

I can't work out why I feel a little let down by the last episode. I enjoyed watching it, and it was certainly full of drama. I think I was hoping for a few more answers. I also wanted to see more of both Caleb and Toby *lol*

And now we have to wait longer than ever to find out what happens next :( On the plus side though, Pretty Little Liars will be released on DVD in the US quite soon so you can re-watch all the action to your heart's content!

Lady Gaga's Hottest Looks! We all know

Lady Gaga's Hottest Looks!

We all know Lady Gaga is a little bit crazy when it comes to fashion. But she doesn't always look bizarre. Well, okay....she usually does. But she is lucky enough to be able to make bizarre look fantastic. I can't say I would ever be brave enough to dress the way she does but I think that is what makes her so brilliant. Pushing the boundaries and expresing herself through her clothing. Here is a look at some of Lady Gaga's best looks! http://ow.ly/4hLpy

I Believe in a Thing Called...The Darkness!

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 17:58 in ,
Yes, yes, yes! The Darkness are coming back this summer, which means the high pitched tones of Justin Hawkins will soon be heard on the radio once again! The Darkness are something of a guilty pleasure for me - though whether they really fit that category is a matter of a opinion. Ever since they released I Believe In A Thing Called Love, I have been hooked on their music. Is it profound? Not really. Is it fun? Hell yeah! I much preferred their second album to their first, though after listening to them both recently I was reminded of some of the gems they recorded which I had totally forgotten about.  In the interests of not forgetting them ever again, I wrote an article about the Top 5 Songs by The Darkness. Check them out and let me know what you think!

Of course, he is just kidding. I think. To find out more, click here!

A Person of Interest? Pretty Little Liars!!!!

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 09:34 in ,

Warning!! If you did not see the PLL episode titled "A Person of Interest", this post contains spoilers!

Oh Em Gee! How amazing was last night's episode of Pretty Little Liars?!

I must start by saying that for the first half of the season I was convinced that Spencer murdered Ali, but as we got to know her, I figured it was unlikely. I now feel desperately sorry for her as it seems that someone is trying to frame her. I could have cried when her parents told her she needs to see a therapist! :( However, there were moments of awesome for Spencer! ;) Kissing Toby must have been high on her list of things she could never have predicted! He is quite lovely though. The strong, silent type! :D I hope he can find a way to save her.

The situation with Ian is getting weirder and weirder. He claimed that Ali was stalking him, and from what we learned yesterday it seems that his story is starting to make sense. The only part that still doesn't tie in is the video of him possibly murdering Ali. But even if he didn't do it, he was there that night and he must know SOMETHING.And what was he doing giving Jenna a bag? And why is she hiding it? Too many questions!

I still can't bring myself to feel too sorry for Melissa. She isn't as bitchy as she first appeared but there is something about her that rubs me up the wrong way. I can't help again being suspicious that SHE killed Ali. She made a comment a while back about Ali's game-playing probably being the thing that got her killed. Hmmmm.

Emily and Paige was....interesting. Understanding as I am, I still wouldn't necessarily want to hang out with someone who tried to drown me, even if she is confused. Emily is an angel though, and I loved seeing her out with Paige at the karaoke bar. They fit together well but...what about Maya? I know she is away at bad girl camp but, they never officially broke up and Emily seemed to get over her very quickly. Whatever, I think she made the right decision about being just friends with Paige. I am looking forward to seeing where things go from here.

Hanna. Oh, Hanna! I adore that girl - and I am deeply jealous about her getting on with Caleb because he is HOT! :p He is far more suited to her than Sean ever was, and she finally lost the virginity she seemed to eager to lose! Alas, she may get her heart broken because it seems that there really IS more to Caleb than first met the eye. His phonecall to someone we don't know saying he is done suggests he has some part in the "A" fiasco. Perhaps Hanna and Aria were right when they said all of those phones they found in school were the property of "A". I'm going to take a new stab in the dark here and say he was calling Jenna - and the reason he told Hanna he couldn't unlock Jenna's phone was because he knew there were things on it that he didn't want Hanna to see. The plus side is that Caleb actually may have morals after all but if Hanna finds out he had to do with the suffering she has been through, she will never want to see him again. :(

I genuinely don't know how I will cope when the season ends! I am officially addicted!

P.S Sorry for any rambling - my overexcited brain needed to share my thoughts quickly!

Worst Cover Versions Ever Recorded

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 12:32 in ,
Everyone has their own opinion on what makes a cover version rubbish. For me it's a style change, bad singing and occasionally a tempo change that can ruin a good song. There have been a crazy amount of cover versions since music began being charted and many of them have been appalling. If you want to see my top five picks for the worst cover versions ever recorded - check out this link!

Lady Gaga Wants You To Smell of Bodily Fluids!

Lady Gaga to Release "Blood and Semen" Scented Perfume?

Don't get me wrong, I love Lady Gaga. I love her music, I love that she is completely crazy and I love that she gets people talking. But even I think this is a step too insane, even for her! Do we really want to walk around stinking of blood and semen? I mean, aren't those the smells we shower to get away from?! Of course, at this point it is just a rumour but let's face it - it's Lady Gaga! I don't think anyone would be that surprised if it were true!

Harry Potter geekdom

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 15:00 in ,
I may or may not have mentioned my obssessive love for Harry Potter in a previous post! If I haven't....I have an obsessive love for Harry Potter! For what must be almost ten years, I have relished the books and the movies, discussed theories, even written fanfic! Harry Potter is how I managed to make so many friends online too so it will always have a special place in my heart. Recently I wrote an article that I would like to share with you about Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. I have not always been a fan of her acting, however, what she does show is a glimpse of what more she has to give as an actress and I am looking forward to seeing any upcoming projects she may have! For now though, here is a look back at her time in Harry Potter.

Not Going Out

Posted by Kyra Lennon on 19:21 in ,
If you live in the UK, you may have seen or heard of the BBC comedy show Not Going Out. If you haven't heard of it and you like a good laugh and don't mind a lot of innuendo, you need to check it out! It stars Tim Vine, Lee Mack and Miranda Hart (although whether Miranda will be in this series remains to be seen!) and it's on on Thursday nights on BBC One at 9.30 PM!! It is honestly one of the best comedies of recent years and makes me laugh out loud every time. For more info read on: Reasons You Should Be Watching Not Going Out.
